Where are my words stored?

The iPhone app keeps its journal on your iPhone. The website keeps its journal in your browser on the device you use. There is no account or cloud sync, so these are separate journals. Clearing browser data or deleting the app can permanently remove local entries.

How do I keep a copy?

On iPhone, open Your space from the sliders icon on Today and choose Export as PDF or Export as plain text. You can also use export from Journal. On the website, open Journal or Your space and choose Export plain text or Print / Save as PDF. In the print dialog, choose the PDF destination your system provides. Exports are outside the app’s privacy controls.

Can I use Rivendell offline?

The iPhone practice library is bundled with the app. The website downloads its public app files and library when you first open it online. After that preparation finishes, the same browser can open them offline. External research websites need connectivity. On iPhone, use Safari’s Share menu and Add to Home Screen to keep the web app nearby.

Why is a draft in my journal?

Beginning a check-in, practice, or interactive tool saves a local draft. Save and close whenever you need a pause, then return from Today or Journal. Help me right now requires no writing and does not create a journal entry.

How do I erase my data?

Open Your space and choose Erase all my local data in the iPhone app, or Erase my web journal and saved choices on the website. Confirm only when you want to remove it. Exports saved elsewhere are not deleted. There is no cloud backup for us to restore.

How is my space protected?

The iPhone app offers optional Face ID or device-passcode authentication. The website’s privacy cover only hides the page when you switch away; it does not authenticate anyone. Use a protected device and your own browser profile for sensitive writing.

A place of healing

In J. R. R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings, Rivendell is a refuge where travelers find rest, care, and renewed strength before continuing their journeys. That idea inspired this independently created app: a small space to pause, understand what you feel, and choose a caring next step.

The exercises are original, with their conceptual sources identified in the library. Referenced researchers and organizations did not create or validate this app. Rivendell offers educational reflection tools, not diagnosis, treatment, monitoring, or emergency care. For persistent symptoms or specialized needs, seek qualified professional support. If there is immediate danger or a medical emergency, use your local emergency service.

Free to use

All Rivendell practices are free. There are no accounts, advertisements, subscriptions, or in-app purchases. External organizations may charge for their own services or require accounts; these are optional resources outside Rivendell.
